How Much Do Amazon Listing Images Cost? A Transparent Breakdown
What Amazon listing images cost depends on whether photography is included, how many images you need, the image types, the revisions and how fast you need them. Designers price per image, per set, hourly, on retainer or bundled with a photo shoot. As one published reference point, PhotoPixc’s 7-image set starts from $179, with 2 revision rounds and delivery in 5–7 business days. Compare quotes on the same scope, not the headline price.
The 5 pricing models
| Pricing model | How it works | Good for | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Per image | A price for each image designed | Fixing one or two weak images | Costs climb quickly for a full set; check what counts as “one image” |
| Per set or package | A fixed price for a defined set, such as main plus six | New listings and full refreshes | What’s in the package: revisions, photo editing, image copy, file specs |
| Hourly | You pay for time spent | Open-ended or unusual work | Hard to budget; ask for an estimate and a cap |
| Retainer | A monthly fee for ongoing design | Brands with frequent launches | Minimum terms and what happens to unused time |
| Bundled with photography | Photo shoot plus design, often with sample shipping | Brands with no usable photos | Shipping time and cost, and who keeps the product samples |
We haven’t listed market price ranges because they vary widely and change often. If you see a range quoted elsewhere, check who published it and when.
What drives the price
| Cost driver | Why it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Photography | Shooting products costs far more than designing from photos you already have |
| Number of images | Amazon recommends a main image plus at least six more; each extra image adds design time |
| 3D renders | Modelling a product from scratch is slower than editing photos |
| Copy and research | Someone has to read reviews, pick the claims and write the text on infographics |
| Revisions | More rounds and late changes of direction add time |
| Rush delivery | Jumping the queue usually costs extra |
| Source files | Layered working files are often priced separately from final exports |
| Licensing | Stock photos, fonts and models may need paid licences |
| Variations | Each colour or size may need its own main image and swatch |

- Files that meet Amazon’s specs: RGB, under 10 MB, at least 1,000 px on the longest side
- A stated number of revision rounds
- A stated turnaround from brief approval
- Clear terms on ownership, source files and licences

Freelancer vs studio vs agency on cost
A freelancer on a marketplace often has the lowest headline price and the widest range of quality. A studio usually costs more per set but includes planning and a fixed process. A full-service agency bundles photography, copy and ads, so the total is higher, but you get one supplier. Our studio vs Fiverr comparison covers the trade-offs in detail.
Hidden costs
- Reshoots. If your photos are too small or hide details, no designer can fix that fully.
- Rejected uploads. A main image that breaks Amazon’s rules has to be redone. Check our requirements checklist first.
- Extra revisions. Rounds beyond the package are usually charged.
- Missing source files. Without them, small edits later can mean paying for a redesign.
- Marketplace fees. Freelance platforms usually add a buyer service fee at checkout.
- Your time. Briefing, feedback and uploading all take time, whoever designs the images.
